With your support we can achieve our mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

Meet A Few of Our Local Volunteers:

On June 30, 2000, I had a heart attack and went into full cardiac arrest. I was 30 years old at the time. I had gone to see my family doctor three days prior to the heart attack, but my symptoms were attributed to a panic attack, and I was sent home. After my heart attack, I was angry with my physician for misdiagnosing me, but I decided to focus on getting better—and using my energy to help others avoid ending up the in same situation. more.

Heart disease. It's the illness we hope to avoid by adopting healthy lifestyles and taking care of ourselves. Still, heart attacks and strokes kill and disable thousands of people every year.   In my own circle of family and friends, I've seen firsthand the devastating effects of this disease. That's why I'm doing my part to help the American Heart Association (AHA) in its work to build healthier lives in our community.   more.

Board Member, American Heart Association.

In late October 2007, I very unexpectedly lost my mother to a heart attack caused by undiagnosed heart disease.  During her life, she volunteered with many different organizations and always encouraged me to share my time with groups I felt passionate about.  By volunteering with the American Heart Association, I’m working to keep my mother’s spirit alive with a cause I now hold very near and dear to my own heart.  If just one woman lives because she recognized the early warning signs of a heart attack from information provided at an AHA event, I will have made my mother proud
